Parents and Students: Did you know?

Students must be 15 years old before the first day of class.

Students will need 1-2 hours (minimum) of driving practice each week during this class.  The more practice the better.  Students who get more practice do better on their drives.

Students are responsible to sign up for one drive per week, outside of their class time, with at least 3-4 days between drives for them to practice.  Students may sign up for their first drive immediately—they are not required to have practice before their first drive—although it would be nice.

PARENTS:

Use the Parent-Teen guide provide by DOL.

Start your students driving in a parking lot or quiet residential neighborhood—NOT THE FREEWAY!  Believe it or not, some do!

Prior to applying for a Driver’s License:

Have had your permit for 6 months.

Have 50 hours of driving practice, with at least 10 hours at night.

Pass a Traffic Safety Education Course.

Must be 16 years old.
